Got this email from The SHAC 7 Support Committee. We know a lot of you still want to help them, but might not know how, well, they still need tons of financial help with legal fees, especially for their upcoming appeals. Come on everyone, let's show them we care. Even if you think you're poor, think about these people, probably your age, that are facing years in federal prison. You can't be that poor to not help just a little, right?
"Dear SHAC 7 Supporters,
March 2 was a sad day for activists everywhere, with the SHAC 7 being
found guilty on all counts. As we write this, five of the defendants are
sitting in jail, awaiting sentencing on June 7th. They are all facing
between one and ten years in prison, a hefty sentence for engaging in Free
Speech activities. Universally, activists have expressed their outrage at
this verdict, support for the defendants, and a desire to fight back and
help however they can. There is no question that the SHAC 7 still need
your help. The next step in the legal battle is to appeal the verdict. As
many lawyers have said, most First Amendment cases are not won at the
trial level. They are won on appeal. And the SHAC 7 case is most
definitely one of those instances.
Now is the time that the SHAC 7 again really need your help. In addition
to writing those defendants who are in jail, we desperately need to raise
funds to hire experienced First Amendment attorneys to appeal this
outrageous conviction. Unfortunately, attorneys fees are very expensive
and we need to get the ball rolling immediately. I know many of you have
donated to this case in the past, and we hope that you can do so again.
Donations can be made payable to NJARA and earmarked for the SHAC 7
appeal. Donations can be sent to:

We are all stunned by this verdict but are hopeful that it will be thrown
out on appeal. Right now our friends and fellow activists sit in jail
facing substantial prison time. Let's all do what we can to win this.
Sincerely,
The SHAC 7 Support Committee"
