From Connie at IDA:
"Hi everyone,
I want you to meet Loop-de-loop and RC. . These 2 dogs live in my neighborhood. I drive by them every day on my way to work and on my way home. These 2 dogs are living a miserable life on the end of a chain. They are chained 90% of the time. They are tied up far away from their guardians house (as you can see in the picture labeled LoopdeLoop and RC) and they cannot even reach each other when chained. They are chained up by a covered wire that is only about 5' long. Their dog houses are made of plywood and have no bedding in them.
I have no choice but to drive by these 2 dogs because they are on the route to town from my house. It literally breaks my heart every single day. I have sent letters and brochures on the cruelties of chaining dogs to the guardian with no response. I have offered to take the dogs for a walk on the weekends but again, no response. I have offered to find the dogs a new home but the guardian has refused.
Because of driving by them every day was ruining my day, I knew I had to do something. I couldn't stand driving by them any longer. I came up with the idea of offering to build a fenced area for them. Finally, after months of corresondence with the guardian, he has hesitantly agreed to let me build a fence for RC and Loop-d-loop AND get them neutered.
So....this is where you all come in. I'm trying to raise funds to build a fence for RC and Loop-de-loop and to get them neutered. I have done all the research on building the fence and I think I can build it and have the dogs neutered for around $500.00. I will also see that they get better shelter and will counsel the guardian about taking the dogs for walks, giving them time off the chain and hopefully bringing them in the house at some point.
If there's any way you can make a donation to my project, it would mean the world to me. Even a small amount would help. Small amounts add up! I will do this on my own if I have to but if you have the ability to help, I would really appreciate it. If you can't help at this time, please know that I understand.
If I reach my goal of $500.00, any extra monies will be put in a fund to help unchain dogs in our community.
If you can donate, you can make checks payable to In Defense of Animals and mail them to the address below. Please earmark your check for 'Unchain dogs'.
Thank you in advance for your support on this. I know that all of you care deeply for our companion animals and that you would help me unchain all the dogs if we could! This will be a start.
For Loop-de-loop and RC and all the other chained dogs,
Connie
