"My name is Mark Schumacher. I created DISCOVER WILD because I saw a growing need for solid, science-based environmental education that is hands-on and interactive for the student. I wanted to teach children and adults how to think, not what to think about eco-systems.

As the father of three children, a furrier, and avid outdoorsman; I was asked to speak to my children’s school classes about wildlife eco-systems and the importance of fur in America’s history. I discovered when I brought real fur samples into the classroom the children’s attention level rose, and the dialogue between the children and me became more dynamic. My audience was thinking and asking good questions. My “lecture” became interesting and most importantly, “fun” for the kids. Together we were exploring the world of animals and discussing important environmental concepts critical to understanding the dynamics of the natural world."
